Free for clubs with up to 15 current members. Every club can try Rollcast for 30 days without a card. Members still pay their subscriptions to the club.

What the committee can do

Members and joining applications

Keep one record for every member. People apply on the website and answer the questions you choose. Approve them, add them to the waiting list or turn them down, and they are told by email.

Subscriptions the club has received

Record bank transfers, cash and cheques. Rollcast works out each member's balance and writes a receipt. Send a reminder to everyone who still owes.

Permits a bailiff can check

When a subscription is settled, the member's permit appears with a QR code. A bailiff scans it to see whether it is valid this season. Members can print it or keep it on their phone.

Waters, maps and closures

Publish each water with its rules, parking and access, and mark the fishing area on a map. Close a stretch and members see the reason before they travel.

Catch returns and nil returns

Members record each outing, or a nil return when they caught nothing. Remind anyone whose returns are missing, and download the season's returns for the AGM.

Guest tickets

Members issue a ticket for a guest from their phone, from the allowance the club sets, such as five guests a season. A bailiff scans it like a permit, and the committee sees every guest booked.

Notices to the right members

Write to every member, to those who have not paid or to those missing catch returns. Each person gets an email and a copy in their Rollcast inbox.

Problems reported from the bank

Members report pollution, access or safety problems from their phone. The committee replies, and marks the report resolved when it is dealt with.

Documents and your own copy

Keep rules, minutes and forms for members to download. Download members, payments and catch returns as a spreadsheet for the treasurer or the AGM.

Moving from a spreadsheet or paper

  1. Start the club and set your subscription, the first day of the season and how members pay.
  2. Download the members template and fill in your list, including subscriptions already paid.
  3. Upload it and check the preview. Nothing is saved until you confirm, and nobody is emailed.
  4. Add your waters, then invite one member to try it before telling the whole club.

Each step is explained in the committee guide.

What Rollcast does not do

Rollcast does not collect members' subscriptions or sell day tickets to the public. Money is still paid to the club as it is now, and the committee records it. That is why there is no charge on each payment.

Founding Members

Clubs that join in Rollcast's first season are Founding Members. We help you bring your records across, you have a direct line to the person who runs Rollcast, and what your club needs shapes what is built next.

Questions committees ask

Does Rollcast collect our members' subscriptions?

No. Members pay the club as they do now, by bank transfer, cash or cheque. The committee records each payment in Rollcast, which updates the member's balance and issues their permit. Rollcast takes no share of subscriptions.

What does Rollcast cost?

Rollcast is free for clubs with up to 15 current members. Larger clubs pay £12, £29 or £59 a month, depending on how many current members they have, with two months free when paying yearly. These prices are the total you pay. There is no VAT on this. Every club can try Rollcast for 30 days without a card.

Do we or our members need to install anything?

No. Rollcast is a website that works on phones, tablets and computers. Members sign in with their email address and a six-digit number we send them, so there are no passwords to remember.

Can we bring across our existing membership list?

Yes. Download the members template, add your records, including subscriptions already paid, and upload it. You see a preview before anything is saved, and importing does not email anyone.

How does a bailiff check a permit?

Each paid member's permit has a QR code. Scanning it with a phone camera opens the live record, which shows the member's name and whether the permit is valid this season.

What about members who do not use a smartphone?

Members can print their permit and water maps at home, and anyone who has not read a club notice in Rollcast is emailed to say it is waiting. The committee records payments for anyone who pays by cash or cheque.

Can the whole committee use it?

Yes. Invite as many committee people as you need. Each person signs in with their own email, so the work does not all fall on the secretary.

Can we take our records with us?

Yes. The committee can download members, payments and catch returns as spreadsheets at any time. Rollcast also keeps a copy of every club's records each night.
