Rollcast for fishing clubs

Follow a short guide

Help with signing in, your first visit, catch returns and getting a club ready. One step at a time, with no timer.

Open Getting started

For members

Sign in with the email held by your club. Keep the sign-in page open while you check your email. If you belong to more than one club, choose the one you want. Once the committee has recorded your subscription, your permit appears. You can read club notices, check waters, record catches or a nil return, and report an incident.

Questions about your membership, your subscription or fishing access go to your club committee.

Using Rollcast on your phone

Open rollcast.co.uk in your phone's browser and sign in. Use Home for your permit, Waters for maps and closures, Catch returns to record your fishing, and Files for downloads. The Menu also has your membership, inbox and club switcher.

You stay signed in on the same browser while you use it regularly. After seven days without visiting, you may need a new sign-in number. On a shared phone or computer, use Menu → Sign out when you finish. If asked to sign in again, keep that page open while you check your email.

There is no app to download. Rollcast is a website, so everything works in your phone's browser, with or without a home-screen shortcut.

Save files before you fish

Open Files, or the permit or water page, and choose Download. The waters PDF includes the map, access, parking and rules. Club documents can be downloaded from Files too.

  • iPhone: if a PDF opens, use Share → Save to Files. Choose a folder on your iPhone so you keep a local copy. If it downloads directly, open the download and save it there. Find it again in the Files app.
  • Android: accept the download if asked. Find the file in Downloads using your phone's Files app. If a PDF opens instead, use its download button.

Before your first trip, switch on airplane mode and open the saved permit and water PDF from Files. If they open, you have a copy available without signal.

Saved files reflect the records when you downloaded them. Check live closures before travelling and download fresh copies when your permit or water details change. Live pages, messages and sending catch returns need a connection.

Keep Rollcast on your home screen

This is optional. The shortcut opens the same website; adding it does not download your permit or make live pages work without signal.

  • iPhone: open rollcast.co.uk in Safari, open the Share menu (under More on some versions), choose Add to Home Screen and confirm Add. Leave Open as Web App switched on if shown.
  • Android: open rollcast.co.uk in Chrome, open the three-dot menu and choose Add to home screen, then Install or Create shortcut if offered.

Open the Rollcast icon and sign in if asked. If you cannot find the option, you can keep using the website in your browser.

For the committee

  1. Start the club, then sign in using the number emailed to you.
  2. Open Club settings. Set your fishing subscription, the first day of the season and how members pay.
  3. Invite the other committee people from Committee. Each person signs in with their own email.
  4. To bring across your membership list, open Documents and download the members template. It is a spreadsheet file you can open in Excel or Google Sheets. Replace the example row with one row for each member. Only the name and email are needed. In the column for the amount already paid (headed paid_amount), put what each member has paid this season, or 0 if they have not paid yet. When you save it, keep the same file type it came as (CSV).
  5. Upload the filled-in file and check the preview. Nothing is saved until you confirm, and nobody is emailed.
  6. Add a water and its access notes, rules and map. Set your joining form from Members.
  7. Ask one member to sign in, check their permit and record a catch return before telling the rest of the club. Bringing across your list does not send anyone an invitation.

Your own copy of the records

Rollcast keeps a copy of every club's records each night. The committee can also download members, payments and catch returns from Documents at any time, for the treasurer, the AGM or the club's own files.
